PS5 Black Friday deals 2026 UK: console prices and what to wait for
Short answer: don't buy a new PS5 at full price now. Today it's £519.99 for the Digital Edition, £569.99 with a disc drive and £789.99 for the PS5 Pro at PlayStation Direct, and big retailers are barely cheaper. Last Black Friday Sony cut the price of every model by £90 to £135, so wait if you can. If you need one now, Sony's Certified Refurbished Digital Edition at £429.99 is the cheapest way in.
Sony raised PS5 prices in April 2026, so this year's starting point is higher than last year's. We'll update this page as prices move. Prices were last checked on 22 October 2026.
PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (825GB)
Full price. Which?'s price tracking shows it has sold for as little as £375 in the last six months, so there's plenty of room for a Black Friday cut.
PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (Certified Refurbished)
Refurbished and checked by Sony, with a warranty. The cheapest PS5 Sony sells today, and a sensible buy if you can't wait for Black Friday.
PlayStation 5 with disc drive (Certified Refurbished)
£120 less than a new disc model. Worth it if you buy games on disc or second-hand.
PlayStation 5 (1TB, disc) + two DualSense controllers bundle
Effectively a second controller for £40. Fine value, but last year's Black Friday cuts were far bigger.
PlayStation 5 Pro (2TB)
Full price, and Currys, John Lewis and EE are out of stock. It fell to £569.99 at Argos last Black Friday (before the price rise), so don't pay full price now.
DualSense wireless controller (white)
A small saving on the RRP. A second controller is the most useful extra for a new PS5.
DualSense Charging Station
Charges two controllers at once without tying up the console's USB ports. A good stocking filler.
PlayStation Pulse Explore wireless earbuds
£25 off. Sony's own accessories were part of last year's Black Friday promotion, so this may drop further.
PS5 prices to aim for this Black Friday
PS5 prices went up in April 2026: the Digital Edition from £429.99 to £519.99, the disc model from £479.99 to £569.99 and the PS5 Pro from £699.99 to £789.99. That makes last year's deals a less direct guide, but they show how far Sony is willing to go.
- Black Friday 2025: Sony's own promotion cut the Digital Edition to £294.99, the disc model to £389.99 and the PS5 Pro to £609.99, and most big retailers matched it. Argos went further on the Pro, selling it for £569.99.
- Lowest prices in the last six months (Which?): about £375 for the Digital Edition, £442 for the disc model and £570 for the Pro.
- Our targets for 2026: under £400 for the Digital Edition, under £450 for the disc model and under £650 for the PS5 Pro. Any of those is a good deal at the new prices.
Which PS5 should you buy?
PS5 Digital Edition: the cheapest way in. Games are bought as downloads from the PlayStation Store, which means no second-hand games. You can add Sony's disc drive later if you change your mind, but it costs extra.
PS5 with disc drive: worth the extra if you buy games on disc, trade them in or borrow them, or want to play 4K Blu-rays. Over a few years, cheaper second-hand games can cover the price difference.
PS5 Pro: sharper picture and smoother frame rates on a good 4K TV. It doesn't come with a disc drive. Only worth the big premium if you play a lot and have a TV that shows the difference.
Certified Refurbished: sold by Sony with a warranty, and £90 to £120 less than new. A sensible choice if you need a console before Black Friday.
Will the PS5 be cheaper on Black Friday 2026?
Very likely. Sony has run a Black Friday PlayStation promotion for the past few years, with the cuts starting in the week before Black Friday and running through Cyber Monday. Retailers usually match it on the same day. We don't yet know the 2026 prices, and higher memory costs (the reason for April's price rise) may mean smaller cuts. But with prices at full RRP today, buying a new PS5 now makes little sense unless it's needed before late November.
Is it worth buying a PS5 now or waiting for Black Friday?
Wait if you can. Every new PS5 model is at or close to full price today, and last year's Black Friday cuts were £90 to £135.
When do PS5 Black Friday deals start?
Last year Sony's promotion started on 21 November, a week before Black Friday. Expect something similar in 2026, ahead of Black Friday on 27 November.
Should I buy a PS5 Digital Edition or the disc version?
Digital if you're happy buying all your games online. Disc if you like second-hand games or lending games to friends, as the savings on games add up.
Is a refurbished PS5 worth it?
Sony's Certified Refurbished consoles are checked and come with a warranty, so they're a safe buy. At £429.99 for the Digital Edition, it's the cheapest PS5 today, though Black Friday may bring new consoles close to that price.
